Common Goal Launches Longitudinal Data Analysis Software

Elmhurst, IL (February 12, 2010) – Common Goal Systems, a leading developer of web-based software for schools, announced today that a Longitudinal Data Analysis module has been added to its product offerings. The software provides schools with an effective way to track students' performance on assessments and make data-driven decisions.

The Longitudinal Data Analysis module takes data from multiple assessments, such as standardized test scores, and builds a digital portfolio for every student at the school. The program can disaggregate scores by gender, ethnicity, race, disability, and more. User-friendly reports help stakeholders analyze trends, look for achievement gaps, and make changes to instruction to improve performance. The software, which is available over the Internet by subscription, can be purchased separately or with the company's student management system SchoolInsight (www.schoolinsight.com).

"With the Race to the Top initiative, many of our customers have been looking for a way to store and dissect test data," says Pat Helmers, Vice President of Sales for Common Goal Systems. "Since our software is available over the web, we can respond in a timely way to customers' requests. We build it and they log in. This software helps educators make sense of complex data and identify areas that need improvement."

A teacher using the program commented that the ability to share data with other instructors is "essential in making placement decisions and guiding instruction." Oscar Avina, Principal Aurora Charter School in Minneapolis, MN said, "We were looking for an effective way to store and analyze student assessment data. We are very happy that we found this program! It's easy-to-use and has the reports we need to sift through the data. We can customize it and add our own testing events too."

Common Goal Systems (www.common-goal.com) provides a line of web-based services to help schools and teachers work more efficiently. In addition to Longitudinal Data Analysis and SchoolInsight, the company develops TeacherEase, the popular standards-based grading software with parent portal. Using the Software as a Service model (SaaS), the company offers its products via the Internet and is responsible for the deployment, operation, and maintenance of the IT infrastructure. Founded in 2001, Common Goal Systems has hundreds of thousands of users around the world.
